Services & Fees

The Carbondale Acupuncture Clinic offers a variety of healing modalities and services. All of them complement acupuncture and are used in concert to bring about well being of mind, body and spirit.

Acupuncture

Daisy250Acupuncture at its most basic is the insertion of fine needles into the body to affect a cure. On a deeper level, acupuncture is the commonly used term for what might be better called Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

TCM is a medical system which has been used for many centuries to diagnose, treat, cure and prevent illness. Acupuncture is one treatment modality within the greater framework of TCM. The concept of Qi (vital force, vital energy) is essential to gain an understanding of acupuncture. Qi is said to flow through the body in channels much like water flows through the land. Acupuncture needles are inserted into the body to affect the flow of Qi, to leverage it, and to bring about positive change and balance in one’s energetic field.

 Chinese Herbal Medicine

Like acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine is another modality within TCM. Chinese herbal medicine has an even longer history than does acupuncture, with its first herbal compendium said to have been written from the teaching of herbalist Shen Nong, who lived over 4,000 years ago.  Once a diagnosis is established according to the principles of TCM, acupuncture and/or herbs are generally prescribed.  Nowadays, herb are prescribed in a variety of forms- as a tea, in pills or powders, or as a tincture.

Therapeutic Massage

As a valuable tool in human wellness, massage promotes greater circulation, lymphatic flow and muscular relaxation. Massage invites awareness of lifestyle and emotional patterns which may cause pain or limitations in the body. Through intention and integrated massage techniques, we approach massage as an opportunity for personal empowerment and as an invitation to the ever-changing moment. And, it will simply feel wonderful!

Nutrition

Every single function the body performs, from blinking, to thinking, to exercising, is driven by the food we eat every day. Nutritional counseling according to the principles of Chinese medicine helps clients to build a diet that optimizes their body’s function to overcome a myriad of disease states. Through the use of targeted dietary changes and herbal supplements clients can regain their vibrant health and enjoy life again.
